Nikola Tesla, A genius, the Father of what we now take for granted, died penniless, living on $ 125.00 per month, plus a Room, paid for by Westinghouse…kind of sad isn’t it?
Nicola Tesla worked with Edison…and I’m sure never was paid for his genius, Edison died a very Wealthy man, even back then connections were vital to success, he didn’t become a US Citizen until 1891.
A brilliant Man from Serbia who never made it in his time. He was from, historically speaking, Austro-Hungarian Empire, born in Smiljan near Gospić in what is today's Croatia. His parents were Serbian... he was a person with Genius which transcended all nationalities for the benefit of Humanity. Nikola.
One might ask this “Why is he talking about a TV in a 1922 article if it wasn’t invented until 1927?“ Television in this text does not mean a TV. It means the visual equivalent to telephony, so we would call it a video call today.
He doesn’t get near the credit that he should. His invention of the polyphase AC power distribution system and the induction motor is what makes modern life possible today. Think I’m kidding? Turn off the power everywhere for a while. Our entire way of modern life ends instantly and if it stayed off we’d be in a world of hurt. Nothing would work anymore!
When you walk through the halls of Bell Labs there is a display of the world's first video phone.. showcased during the world fair in 1964.. that’s right ma bell had FaceTime before Apple… and the Silicon Valley guys think they invented everything. Without the transistor from Bell Labs, there would be no Silicon Valley.
